ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVES: This study was conducted with the aim of examines the quality of life of infertile couples and their relationship with the practical resilience of infertile couples referring to Yazd's centers of infertility. METHODS: This research is a descriptive-correlational study. The research population consisted of all infertile couples who referred to Infertility Centers in Yazd, Iran in the winter of 2016. Sampling was conducted in a non-random and accessible manner. The instrument used in the research included a) demographic information questionnaire, b) Conner and Davidson's Resilience Scale, and c) quality of life infertile couples questionnaire. Data were analyzed by SPSS software version 17 at a significant level of P < 0.05. To describe the data, descriptive statistics methods were used and the inferential statistics (Pearson correlation coefficient, regression, independent t test, and variance analysis) were used to test the research hypotheses. RESULTS: People (202 couples) participated in this research. Three variables of resilience (β = 0.04, P = 0.04), gender (β = −0.22, P < 0.001), and education level (β = 0.21, P < 0.001) had a prediction coefficient and there was a significant relationship with quality of life. CONCLUSIONS: This study showed that resilience, gender, and education predict the quality of life of infertile couples. In the infertile couples counseling program, resilience should be considered as a coping factor.

ABSTRACT

Today, medical and nursing education is moving from traditional into student-centered educational system. In this context, teaching and learning via computers and internet has been increasing in popularity. This study was aimed to determine the knowledge, skills, access and usage of computers, internet and databases in nursing students and some of the related factors. This is a descriptive and correlation study. 145 undergraduate students were randomly selected from the nursing midwifery school. Data were collected by "status of computer and internet usage" questionnaire. Content validity and test-retest method were used for its validity and reliability respectively. Data were analyzed by SPSS version 20 and analytical - descriptive statistics. Nursing students expressed their knowledge and skills of computers and internet usage in the good level. Also, their access to computers and internet were "high" [44. 8%] and "moderate" [47. 6%] respectively. The most important factors of facilitating and inhibiting usage of computers and internet were "Easy using of computer" and "Slow speed of internet" respectively. The knowledge and skills of computers and internet usage was correlated with their usage. The results of this study highlights needs of computers and internet learning for nurses. This should be consider by health planners and policy makers

ABSTRACT

Infertility can affect the quality of life of infertile couples. The aim of this study was to develop and measure psychometric properties of "Quality of Life in Infertile Couple Questionnaire" [QOLICQ]. This study was conducted in two qualitative and quantitative phases. Qualitative method involved semi-structured interviews of a purposive sample of 34 infertile couples. A content analysis of the data produced the dimensions of quality of life in infertile couples. By reviewing the literature and interviewing infertile couples, QOLICQ with 95 Likert-type items was developed. Content validity index [CVI] was measured by a panel of 10 experts and 10 infertile couples based on the "relevance", "clarity", and "simplicity" on a four point scale. Then, construct validity was measured by 150 infertile men and women. Internal consistency and test retest was measured. In analyzing the content validity index, items with more than 79% validity were kept and the items in the questionnaire were reduced to 79. Factor analysis showed seven factors in the questionnaire. An internal consistency of 0.71-0.95 and a test-retest reliability of 0.81-0.94 were calculated. QOLICQ, which includes 72 Likert-type items in 7 dimensions, is a valid and reliable questionnaire for measuring the quality of life of infertile couples. Due to the lack of a valid and reliable instrument for measuring quality of life in infertile couples in Iran, using this questionnaire is suggested. Measuring other types of validity, such as discriminate and concurrent validity, are recommended.

ABSTRACT

Therapeutic regimen non compliance is a common problem in hemodialysis patients. It is associated with many side effects. Marital satisfaction and conflictions in dyadic relationships have an important effect on compliance of a complex regimen. This study aims to determine the correlation between marital satisfaction and therapeutic regimen compliance in hemodialysis patients in hospitals of Shahid Beheshti University of Medical Sciences and Health Services in 1388-89. In this descriptive correlatiional study 100 hemodialysis patients were selected through the judgmental sampling method. Data gathering tool was a questionnaire consisting three parts: demographic data, disease and ENRICH Marital Satisfaction Inventory. The latter part is validated by content validity method. The reliability of ENRICH Marital Satisfaction Inventory was determined by Chronbach's=method. The questionnaires were completed by patients during hemodialysis. In order to determine the compliance of therapeutic regimen, the researcher recorded the mean of the last three months' values of P, K, interdialytic weight gain, and the numbers of missed dialysis sessions using patient's documents. Data were analyzed by SPSS statistical software While 56% of patients had compliance in therapeutic regimen. 59% had low and very low and 41% of patients had moderate and high marital satisfaction. There was a significant correlation between marital satisfaction and therapeutic regimen compliance and marital satisfaction in patients with therapeutic regimen compliance was high. Planning for counseling and supportive programs concerning marital satisfaction can be beneficial for patients and their families in order to increase their therapeutic regimen compliance

ABSTRACT

Objective[s]: Valid and reliable data collection requires valid and reliable tools [questionnaires]. In using questionnaires in other languages, translation and psychometrics to make them compatible with target culture gain the first priority. The aim of this study was to translate KINDL questionnaire [for measuring quality of life in school-age children] to Farsi and to perform its psychometric evaluation

Methods: In this methodology study, after permission from developers of KINDL questionnaire, it was translated in 7 stages. Its English version was first translated to Farsi. Different early translations were then unified into one Farsi version. The final product was then translated back into English with revision, correction and finalization. For measuring psychometric, content validly, criterion validity and reliability by test-retest methods were used. First the KINDL questionnaire was translated and then psychometric was measured. Content validity index [CVI] of the questionnaire was measured based on the "relevance", "clarity", and "simplicity" on a four point scale

Results: The results showed that content validity index was more than %75 for all questions. In addition, the results of criterion validity of KINDL questionnaire and "Quality of Life Questionnaire for Children with Asthma" showed a significant, linear and positive relationship between the scores of the two questionnaires by Spearman statistical test. In addition, test-retest results showed a high correlation between the different domains of the questionnaire

Conclusion: Foreign questionnaires should be translated by expert people and made compatible with the target culture of each country. Researchers should be aware of this important point when they apply questionnaires from other countries. In this research, content validity index, criterion validity and reliability of KINDL questionnaire were measured and approved. Thus, it can be concluded that the questionnaire is suitable to measure quality of life in children
